Welcome to all the new students for 2002-03! A few reminders: If you are flying to UM this fall DO NOT check your instruments as baggage with the airline unless you have a custom flight case designed for airline baggage (I doubt any of you do). Every year a few inexperienced new students arrive at school with significantly damaged instruments because they checked them as baggage, and it is virtually impossible to get them fixed on short notice. Most airlines will let you carry on your instruments with a little prodding. If you have too many horns to carry on, consider shipping some (well packed). I will be glad to receive them at my home address.

Ensemble auditions for fall semester are scheduled for Sunday and Monday, August 25th and 26th. Sign up sheets will be on my door. All new and returning students must audition or meet with me on these dates regarding ensemble placement, regardless of any previous placements/ registrations. I must see you during these times.

All 2 credit students must perform in the forum at least once a year (unless you are playing your graduation recital). Plan ahead and get a date early. Sign up sheet will be on my door when school resumes.
